On July 6th 2008 we welcomed our new Parish Priest, Father Tom Scott, to St. Paul's. This brings to a close the search process. We are excited to begin a new chapter in the life of St. Paul's with Father Tom. The formal announcement from our Senior Warden follows:
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Paul's:
On Sunday, June 8th it was announced that the Vestry had unanimously approved the recommendation of the Search Committee and extended the call to Rev. Thomas C.H. Scott to serve as our new Parish Priest.
Fr. Tom is coming to us from Evanston, Illinois, where he served for seventeen years as Rector to St. Marks Episcopal Church. He is married and has two grown children.
Fr. Tom received his BA in English and Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975, MA in English Literature from Michigan State University in 1976, M.DIV. in Parish Ministry at Episcopal Divinity School in 1981, and his D.Min. in Pastoral Theology at Drew University in 1990.
He has served as a parish Rector since his ordination in 1981.
Fr. Tom visited Muskegon on May 15th, where he met with the Search Committee over dinner and followed with a visit to the church to meet the Vestry members. He graciously conducted a homily for us in the Chapel and answered any questions that were asked of him. The Bishop has met with Fr. Tom and has approved his call to St. Paul's.
Fr. Tom's first official day at St. Paul's is Tuesday, July 1st. His first Sunday is July 6th. Please help us welcome him by attending one of the services that day. A brief celebration will take place after the 10:30 service.
We know you will be pleased with the newest member of our church family. With his impressive background and experience we truly feel that Fr. Tom is the man that God has chosen to lead our Parish.
Yours in Christ,
Rick Cornell, Senior Warden
